Platteville Colorado Real Estate and Platteville CO Homes Platteville Colorado was founded in 1871, after the Denver Pacific Railroad reached this site on the South Platte River. Platteville's origins are traced back to Fort Vasquez, an important 1830s fur trading post. Over time, the adobe structure has fallen into ruins. This fort was abandoned in 1842, and by 1937 only portions of the original walls remained.
