Northern Communities : Berthoud
Berthoud Colorado Real Estate and Berthoud CO Homes
Incorporated in 1885, Berthoud Colorado was so named in honor of a civil engineer, E.L. Berthoud, who surveyed the original rail route through the valley. Prior to his arrival, a rancher named Lewis Cross had staked a homestead claim where the Colorado Central Railroad Company was planning to cross Little Thompson Creek. All of the Berthoud area is surrounded by rich farmlands and spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains. Berthoud is located equidistantly between Longmont and Loveland. Today's future is in Berthoud's participation in the growth of the Front Range and real estate development. Berthoud is locally known as "The Garden Spot of Colorado".

Northern Communities : Dacono
Dacono Colorado Real Estate and Dacono CO Homes
Dacono Colorado has a long history as a coal mining town; established in 1906, platted in 1907, and incorporated in 1908. The town's name was coined from choosing the first two letters from the first names of three local residents, Daisy Baum , Cora Van Vorhies and Nora Brooks. Dacono is a friendly community in southern Weld County, 20 miles north of Denver. This area, in general, is commonly known as Carbon Valley or the Tri-Town area with sister towns of Firestone and Frederick.

Northern Communities : Firestone
Firestone Colorado Real Estate and Firestone CO Homes
With spectacular views of Colorado's Rocky Mountains, Firestone Colorado is located midway between Denver and Ft. Collins along the I-25 Corridor. It was formed in 1908 as a statutory town, which is comprised of a mayor and 6 Trustees, with the Board of Trustees as the governing body of Firestone.

Northern Communities : Frederick
Frederick Colorado Real Estate and Frederick CO Homes
Frederick Colorado's early history began as a mining camp and the town was soon incorporated in 1907. The immigrants who first settled in Frederick Colorado to work the coal mines were from Slavic countries, Turkey, Greece and Italy. Today, the community remains a very small town with a population of 4,651 (2002).

Frederick is situated between the sister towns of Dacono and Firestone in south western Weld County. These three towns are referred to as the Tri-Town area.

Northern Communities : Johnstown
Johnstown Colorado Real Estate and Johnstown CO Homes
Johnstown Colorado is now welcoming many new residents, due in part to a persistent new housing boom with major builders. Established in 1902 by Harvey Jay Parish, and incorporated in 1907…two important industries had developed. The Carnation Milk Company was built in 1913 as a milk condensory; the Great Western Sugar Factory was built in 1925 to extract sugar from molasses. Johnstown is located 12.3 miles south of Loveland.

Northern Communities : Loveland
Loveland Colorado Real Estate and Loveland CO Homes
Loveland Colorado is a community that was founded in 1858, when a frontiersman from New Mexico opened a trading post in the area. In 1877, the Colorado Central Railroad was extended from Longmont to Cheyenne, Wyoming, through a 320-acre wheat field owned by David Barnes. With an ample supply of water from the Big Thompson River, the area was ideal for growing wheat. Since then, Loveland has flourished with businesses, schools, churches and families to a population of over 50,000.

Northern Communities : Lyons
Lyons Colorado Real Estate and Lyons CO Homes
Lyons Colorado was founded in 1880 by Edward S. Lyon, platted in 1881, and incorporated in 1891. Beautiful red cliffs border the town. The Town, itself, features enough amenities to be comfortable, but still enjoys a traditional small town atmosphere. Some of the best mountain hiking, biking, fly fishing, tube floating, and rock climbing can be found outside of Lyons. Located only 14.2 miles north of Boulder, Lyons is the confluence of the North and South St. Vrain Creeks. Whichever activity you choose, a river is a great way to cool oneself on a hot summer day!

Northern Communities : Mead
Mead Colorado Real Estate and Mead CO Homes
Mead Colorado was founded in 1886 by Martin S. Mead and became a town in 1905, when the Great Western Sugar Company built a railroad spur and sugar beet dump. By 1910, Mead claimed 114 residents, and today, Mead is a little town with a big future!

Northern Communities : Milliken
Milliken Colorado Real Estate and Milliken CO Homes
Established in 1907, Milliken Colorado is located approximately 4.2 miles to the east of Johnstown. The town was named after a pioneer lawyer, Judge John Milliken, who helped establish the Denver, Laramie, and Northwestern Railroad (DL&N). With the growth of the sugar beef industry and its transport, Milliken was a hub of commerce in northern Colorado.

Milliken suffered disastrous fires near the turn of the century, one of which destroyed three businesses in the town. Also, a decline in railroad transportation hurt the small community's economy. Recently, though, the future is looking much brighter for Milliken!

Northern Communities : Platteville
Platteville Colorado Real Estate and Platteville CO Homes
Platteville Colorado was founded in 1871, after the Denver Pacific Railroad reached this site on the South Platte River. Platteville's origins are traced back to Fort Vasquez, an important 1830s fur trading post. Over time, the adobe structure has fallen into ruins. This fort was abandoned in 1842, and by 1937 only portions of the original walls remained.
